Java Joe meets battery office

The last 2 weeks have been spent mainly working with just a swift road trip to north Wales for entertainment. Last Saturday was spent getting robbed by a motorbike shop for a service on my beast. 340 quid ! I have managed to grab a couple of rides this week though during the brief dry spells we have had inbetween the torrential downpours. Time on the bike clears the head and focuses the mind on one task (staying upright or going quicker !)

Homemade, super strong Vanilla Lattes have accompanied me into work this week in a pikey style flask. Decent coffee at work is a new concept for me after years of Klix machine java. I used to work next door to a french coffee shop (french in style not in location) and the owner as a fellow shop keeper used to refuse payment for his mochas and americanos. I forgot how much I missed my mid-morning, coffee induced "deep breath" at my desk. Come on employers......Serve your staff some Lavazza blended joy! Damn I've missed decent coffee..

I'm feeling only 3% a B*#@ard.

I've told 2 people within the last week that I didn't need them to come back to work again and to take their belongings with them when they leave. My feelings on sacking these people (albeit that they were long term temps) is not what you'd expect. Maybe you'd think i'd be feeling guilty about taking away the pay check of a nice enough person. I don't, I feel strangely paternal about it. I feel stronger towards the rest of my team because of getting rid of the weak links. Why should they work harder to support those less capable or less willing to work hard? Part of my job involves looking after my team and their needs and causing a little hardship to a stranger to make life a little fairer for my team is quite acceptable in my book. In large organisations where working for "the Man" usually means people don't get looked after I feel that if I can look after the interests of my small crew, I've done my bit to make a little difference.

I've finally uploaded some pics onto Flickr. There's some pics from previous Badger walking trips, some camera phone snaps and the odd pic of my bike.
