It would appear the 25 mile detour I added to my usual 3.3 mile journey this morning may have done the job. It was very cold this morning which was the worst situation as I was hoping to get plenty of heat into the engine but after checking the oil at work, it appears to be free of milk, although it is a little cloudy. It's definately time for a service, a quick call today will see if I can get something arranged for the next few weeks but fingers crossed I can avoid the large cost of an engine rebuild.
